Are you an experienced property professional?  Can you engage people positively and communicate plans in a clear, concise way?  Do you have a good eye for detail along with the skills and expertise to drive service delivery to ensure our housing stock meets future decarbonisation targets and maintains the Welsh Housing Quality Standard?  If so, we have an exciting new job vacancy that might be just what you’re looking for.

About us

Newydd Housing Association is an award-winning organisation that currently owns and manages 3,000 rented properties in mid and south Wales, working in several local authority areas. Newydd Maintenance Ltd is a subsidiary company which provides maintenance services to Newydd Housing Association and is built on an in-house contractor model, designed to drive quality customer services, whilst achieving substantial planned growth and expansion.

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Asset & Sustainability to lead our Asset Team and deliver our Asset Management, Sustainability and Decarbonisation strategies in order to successfully reduce the environmental footprint of our properties.

You will lead on the ongoing surveying, energy performance assessment and appraisal of our built assets and manage the Asset team to deliver annual decarbonisation programmes across our housing stock. You will be working closely with our Community Regeneration, Customer Services, Housing and Development Teams, as well as ensuring that our tenants are engaged in our decarbonisation and sustainability activities.

About you

We are looking for a highly organised, proactive, and enthusiastic individual with a genuine interest in the net zero carbon agenda, who can lead and shape a busy, high performing team and work effectively with colleagues to achieve positive outcomes. You will need a relevant degree level qualification along with a relevant professional qualification (such as CIOB or RICS) or be actively working towards gaining professional status.

You should have a proven track record of managing programmes of work and budgets, and, ideally, line management experience, although we would also love to hear from you if you see this as an opportunity to move into a management role. A highly skilled communicator with strong interpersonal skills, you will thrive on working collaboratively and building strong working relationships with other teams.  You will be very IT literate and digitally focused with a passion for developing asset management systems to drive efficiencies and improve processes. You will have strong analytical skills to understand and interpret property data intelligence and make the right business decisions.

Continually improving is at the heart of what we do so the ability to be flexible and adaptable and to offer an innovative and creative approach is important to us.
