Support Worker

17.5 Hours per week (Wed 9am - 5pm,Thurs 11.30am – 5pm & Fri 12pm – 5pm)

Fixed Term for 12 months

Based in Cardiff with regular travel between Roath and Ely

£28,175 - £29,657 (pro rata)

An opportunity has arisen for a part time Support Worker to join Cadwyn’s supported housing team on a fixed term basis.

Cadarn Housing Group is the parent of the Group and provides oversight and support services role. Newydd Housing Association is a charitable housing association, that offers nearly 3,000 affordable homes for rent and sale to people where need is at its greatest in Mid and South Wales, working in several local authority areas. Cadwyn Housing Association owns and manages 3,000 homes for affordable rent and low-cost home ownership as well as a range of community regeneration initiatives.

About the role

Our two hostels for families, provide support and accommodation to prepare families in securing and maintaining a tenancy. The hostels can be fast paced environments, where residents are supported with a wide range of needs including domestic abuse, substance mis-use, mental ill health and child protection issues.

As a support worker you will provide empowering, trauma informed and holistic support to tenants living in Supported Housing and deliver these services in a positive, psychologically informed and motivating way that reflects best practice. 

About you

You must be able to drive, with access to a car daily for work as you will travel between our two hostels across Cardiff as needed.

You will have a good standard of education and be qualified in Advice and Guidance (Level 4) or be prepared to complete this course, with demonstrable experience of supporting adults, young people and children, including assessing and implementing risk management plans, making positive changes and liaising with various agencies.

As a support worker you will have previous experience of supporting adults, young people and children with knowledge of psychologically informed environments, trauma-based approaches and a restorative approach to relationships.
